Our Prairie Collection adapts the classic lines of the Prairie
School architects for modern lifestyles.
Our craftsmen passionately apply the geometric styles and strong
lines from that uniquely American, turn-of-the-century school of
architecture. You’ll love the way these beautiful pieces fit
perfectly into your contemporary or traditional home.
Natural Approach
While borrowing from the Arts & Crafts movement, the Prairie
School Architects led by Frank Lloyd Wright, were apt to "break
the box" and explore new conceptual approaches to home furnishings.
They integrated radical new construction methods and materials with
a new philosophy of life rooted in naturalism.
Our Furniture
You’ll find our emphasis on geometric shapes and new designs
in our Prairie furniture collection. For example, the
round chair (right) is built in a circular
shape rather than the traditional rectangle. It depends
on its slats for support as much as the actual legs.
The strong horizontal lines and overhangs of the
Prairie Library Desk or the interplay of light and shadow
in the repeating slats of the Prairie Round Chair alleviate the
need for flowery ornamentation, and make a striking counterpoint
to both period and contemporary interiors.
